Pigmentation and dark spots

A dark spot appears where skin produces extra pigment in one area — after sun exposure, after a spot has healed, or following hormonal change.

The single most important thing about pigmentation: without sunscreen, no brightening product gives a lasting result. Sunlight is what triggers pigment production, so whatever you lighten comes back.

A sensible order: sunscreen every day, including cloudy days and indoors near a window. Then a brightening product. Then patience — pigment fades in layers, not overnight.

Spots with an irregular shape, that grow quickly or change colour should always be seen by a doctor.
